Tare the facts and figures for the 41st edition of Marmomacc, the International Natural Stone and Technologies Exhibition scheduled at VeronaFiere 5-8 October 2006 (www.marmomacc.com), that has increased its show area by 10% to meet demand from more than 50 companies on the waiting list in June. The event - with the patronage of the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Designers and Conservation Experts and the Ministry of Production Activity - confirms its role as the world landmark for business in stone material and processing technology sectors: the bridge between the world of design and the market. Last year's event attracted 1,450 companies (675 international from 51 countries) and 62,048 visitors from 116 countries - as well as 300 accredited journalists. The 41st edition of Marmomacc is highlighted by several innovations: the inauguration of two new halls (10 & 11 with 20 thousand square metres) hosting companies in natural stone, finished product and design sectors; the largest-ever exhibition (Hall 7) dedicated for the first time to tools, abrasives and chemical products for processing; a series of cultural initiatives dealing with the use of stone in modern architecture as part of the "Marble Art Culture" section, celebrating its 20th anniversary; a guided tour among the stands of companies involved in design studies embracing interior design, external surfaces and cladding. The Show layout is as follows: Hall 1 hosts architecture and design exhibitions; Halls 2, 3, 4, 5 and outside area A host the exhibition of machinery and technologies; Hall 7 has tools, abrasives and chemical products; Halls 6, 8, 9 and the two new halls 10 and 11 present processed marbles and design; Outside areas A, B, C and D - blocks and slabs. Marmomacc is now an official member of the prestigious MIA - Marble Institute of America - and is recognised as an "education provider" (training) by AIA (American Institute of Architects), the association whose members include most US architects. As of 2006, they will also be offered an on-line course in the use of natural stone through the important site AECDaily (www.aecdaily.com/sponsor/veronafiere). Marmomacc's relationships with architects are also consolidated through agreements with RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and RAIC (Royal Architectural Institute of Canada). These architects take part every year in theoretical and practical lessons, with direct visits to a number of quarries for first-hand experience of quarrying processes and stone material processing.
