Cutting-edge architecture at Construtec 2006
The fair will host the staging of the First International Architecture Congress, organised by the Foundation of the College of Architects of Madrid, COAM, and by IFEMA
The First International Architecture Congress on "Cutting-Edge Architecture" will take place as part of the wide-ranging Programme of Specialised Conferences that are due to be staged between 9th and 12th October next within the framework of the ninth edition of the Building Exhibition, CONSTRUTEC 2006, at Feria de Madrid. Organised by the Foundation of the Official College of Architects of Madrid, COAM, in collaboration with IFEMA , the fair's organiser, to take place on 10th and 11th October , this event aims to highlight a number of unique buildings which stand out for being "cutting-edge" constructions, due to their design, dimensional aspects, regulatory aspects ... as opposed to the importance of the architect in question. Furthermore, the Congress has been arranged to coincide with Architecture Week, an event organised by COAM every year. The morning sessions on both days (10th and 11th October) will be the main focus of the Congress, with experts analysing a number of unique buildings. Specifically, on the morning of 10th October, the Congress will consider a leprosy colony in India (based on a paper presented by Jan Olav Jensen) and a Swimming Centre in China (PTW Architects). On Wednesday 11th October it will focus on an eco-boulevard in Madrid (urban-eco-system), a Japanese Natural Science Museum (Tezuka Architects) and a series of Residential Dwellings in Brazil (Angelo Bucci). The afternoon sessions will tackle the recently passed Technical Building Code (CTE) and its different aspects: its future, objectives and structure, as well as habitability and safety requirements (on 10th October), and health and fire safety requirements (on 11th October). These conferences, presented for training purposes, will be organised by the Higher Council of Architect Colleges of Spain, CSCAE, and will feature the presentation of papers by José Luis de Miguel Rodríguez and Pilar Rodríguez-Monteverde. The First International Architecture Congress on "Cutting-Edge Architecture" at CONSTRUTEC is aimed at the wide-ranging group of professionals from the building industry, including architects. The Curator of the Congress is Sergio de Miguel, an architect of some renown.
