Construmat creates a specific show for the bathroom sector

Concepto baño, international bathroom show, will bring together the most representative firms from the sanitary ware sector and its related industry

The next CONSTRUMAT, International Construction Show (14th to 19th of May 2007), organised by Fira de Barcelona, will incorporate CONCEPTO BAÑO a sector dedicated to sanitary ware, taps, fittings and furniture for bathrooms.
CONCEPTO BAÑO was created to be a trade fair and debate platform for the sanitary ware and bathroom equipment sector so that professionals, exhibitors and visitors have an exclusive space in which to discuss the evolution of the their activity and see market innovations and trends.
Conceived as a monographic show within CONSTRUMAT, CONCEPTO BAÑO responds to the current needs of this important sector which for years has rapidly evolved in the concept, function and design of all its elements. 
By means of a modern, unique format, CONCEPTO BAÑO will have its own identity in keeping with the avant-garde design and technological innovation which characterise the sector. The leading associations have endorsed the creation of this new event, which has received an excellent response in terms of participation.
The organisers expect there to be more than 200 exhibitors, including the leading manufacturers of the sector, spread over 25,000 m2 net exhibition space. The show will also feature a programme of side events specific to the sector and the staging of a research project on what a bathroom could look like in the future, with the participation of outstanding architects and designers.
CONCEPTO BAÑO will be situated in the Gran Vía exhibition centre together with other CONSTRUMAT sectors: Air Conditioning and Heating; Electricity and Lighting; Intelligent Homes; Security and Communications; Floors and Coatings; SIDI - Selección Internacional de Diseño para el Equipamiento del Hábitat – (International Design Selection for Fitting out the Habitat) and Sustainable Building.
Spain at the head of the sector
Spain is one of the sector’s main producing countries together with the United States, Germany, Italy, France and Japan. In recent years, Spain has made strong progress in terms of exports, mainly due to some of the world’s largest global manufacturers. Furthermore, one of the characteristics of the Spanish sanitary ware sector is the high technological level of its companies and the good quality/price ratio of its products.
The Spanish sanitary ware, taps and bathroom fittings sector (not including furniture) is made up of around 160 small and medium sized companies that employ 20,289 personas, according to AMEC-ASCON. In 2003, overall turnover was 4,103,180 (thousand euros) and 31.96% of sales were exports.
CONCEPTO BAÑO and CONSTRUMAT are trade shows of Fira de Barcelona, the leading organiser of industrial and professional exhibitions in Spain and one of the first four in Europe in the number of events.
