The Spain Convention Bureau (SCB) is a non profit-making organisation which currently represents 41 conference cities in Spain. It was established in 1984 by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, as a special department of the Tourism Comission and its called "Sección Española de Ciudades de Congresos". The name -Spain Convention Bureau- is a registral trade mark used in promotional activities.
Its main objectives are on one hand to promote the exchange of expertise and information between the appropiate municipalities, and, on the other hand, to organise activities which promote its member towns on the national and international markets. The Spain Convention Bureau (SCB) currently assists the local convention bureau to make contact with companies who need to organise national and international conferences. The Spain Convention Bureau main activities include: Advising on and providing information on infrastructures, hotels and conference centres based on the number of delegate and hotel rooms required. Producing statistics on the conference market in Spain. Preparing a calendar of conferences in Spain. Developing activities which promote information on the cities. Organising staff seminars and training courses. SCB Services Gives objective advice on the choice of venue for conferences or meetings. Provides information on the services and infrastructures offered by the member cities. Gets in contact with the conference department of each city authority. Each city authority: Coordinates the supply and demand for services in the city. Supports the presentation of city candidatures. Assists in the preparation of specific technical dossiers. Provides general information on services and infrastructures available in the city. Provides administrative and technical support for organisers. Arranges inspection visit of the cities.
