ANKASA is going to be presenting its wonderful and unique products, ideals for an excellent hospitality service, in the IH/M&RS in New York 2007. For the past decade, the husband and wife team of Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia have worked hard to make an imprint on the couture and ready to wear fashion world by sourcing fabrics, and designing the rare fabric finishes and embroideries for many top ready to wear houses; Oscar De la Renta, Escada and Vera Wang, to name only a few. Their unique design elements from the world of fashion present a luxurious home décor collection. The idea of fusing fashion and home has been a ANKASA’s vision for many years. While the ready to wear design business is still bustling and flourishing, they longed to create a home product that would cater to the people who have a “passion for fashion”… The idea of offering people with a strong sense of color and style, a home textile collection that would inspire, was just what the home and hotel industry base was craving. ANKASA utilizes many “couture” finishing techniques in the line. The majority of the collection is embroidered by hand and the color palettes each season mirror what is presented down the runway. ANKASA was officially launched in August of 2005. In a short time ANKASA has added over 350+ customers to its list of retail partners in the United States and has added dozens of accounts overseas. Their unique and identifiable style has made an imprint on the home world and has attracted many top companies. ANKASA designs exclusive collections for an array of retail chains including; Neiman Marcus, Anthropology, Shabby Chic and Club Monaco. The company is also working on some hospitality projects for the W Worldwide Hotel chain. A freestanding retail store is the next vision of the company and is already in the pipeline. The store is slated to open on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in May 2007. It will house an exclusive presentation of the ANKASA collection, as well as many special finds in furniture, accessories and loungewear for the boudoir.
